In this blog post, I'll show you how to navigate the Instagram app on your Android phone or iPhone to find the right settings to permanently delete your account. By the end of this post, you'll have all the information you need to delete your Instagram account for good and move on to other things.
Begin by opening the Instagram app on your smartphone and logging in. After logging in, tap on the profile icon located at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Tap on the three lines icon located at the top right corner of the screen. From the menu that appears, select Settings and privacy. You'll be taken to the Account Center.
Within the Account Center, tap on Personal details and then proceed to Account ownership and control. Here, you'll find the option for Deactivation or deletion.
Select the specific account you wish to delete from the list of linked accounts. Instagram allows users to manage multiple accounts from one app, so make sure you're selecting the correct one.
You'll be presented with two choices: deactivation or deletion. Choose the Delete account option and confirm your decision by tapping Continue.
Instagram cares about user feedback. Choose the reason that aligns with your decision to part ways with the platform. This information helps Instagram understand user trends and concerns. Once selected, tap Continue.
Security is a priority. Enter your Instagram password to verify that you are the account owner. After inputting your password, tap Continue to proceed.
You've reached the last step. Confirm your decision to delete your Instagram account by tapping Delete account. Congratulations, you've successfully initiated the process!
It may take up to 90 days for Instagram to completely delete your account and all associated data. During this time, your account will be deactivated and inaccessible to other users.
